THE FOG (1980) (MY FIRST REVIEW)
Rating: 10 Skulls
Okay perhaps im easy to Please, the remarkable casting of JAMIE LEE CURTIS, ADRIENNE BARBEAU, HAL HOLBROOK, JANET LEIGH goes above and beyond to any film with a big name cast, this really does it, this basically is a "whos who" cast of horror, ok theres some cheese, the one "slasher moment' where the Pirate kills Al's friend, you see no blood (ok Carpenter tried to capitalize on the Halloween system of "no blood, leave everything to the imagination") but the thing was Why would you go out and scream "Whos out there, whooo issss that" id run like hell, wouldnt you, especially in a fog bank? The best part of the film is definitely a mothers fear for her child, Adrienne Barbeau's classic performances of showing fear for Andy and then kicking the ass of the pirates attacking her on the roof, i also enjoyed how she seemed to be separated by the rest of the cast, she only talked to Dan and Nick on the phone, the feel of being isolated while the world is being ripped apart has to be terrifying enough... The best scene is Father Malone, all happy that Midnight has passed, here is the pirate wanting his gold, off with his head, the decapitation scene was a great cliffhanger to an amazing movie, i put this as Carpenter/Hill's finest moment, the eerieness of it, the story itself grabbed you, all the little supernatural scares that made you jump in the night, a real good old ghost story, and nothing and i mean nothing Beats this music in this movie, the synthesized beats were chilling enough even if you had no fog, amazing amazing amazing, 10 skulls for this one!!!
